Meet Our Veterinarian And Staff
Ronald H. Tolbert, BS, MS, DVM
Dr. Ronald H. Tolbert has been the owner of and sole Practitioner at Red Oak Animal Hospital, located in College Park, Georgia, for the past 35 years. He runs a predominately small animal practice that serves most of South Fulton County, Georgia.
His interest in Veterinary Medicine began in 1969 when his father helped him secure employment with Charles E. Bild Animal Hospital, a prominent Miami Veterinarian who mentored him for several years. After High School, he attended Tuskegee University, where he earned the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Masters of Science in Parasitology in 1977 and 1979, respectively. He then received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia in 1983. He received additional training while interning at the Florida Medical Entomological Center in Vero Beach, Florida, the University of Florida in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery, and as a wildlife technician for the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS) at the University of Georgia.
After two years as an Associate and Relief Veterinarian, he started a house-call practice servicing Large and Small Animals. In 1988 he opened Red Oak Animal Hospital with a client base of 300 clients. Today in his newly renovated building, he has over 6000 patients who he treats with great care.
He has conducted presentations at local schools to promote interest in his profession and provided training and mentoring to many high school and college student interns, many of whom attended Tuskegee University. He trains Paramedics, firemen, and Respiratory Therapist Students in Pediatric Intubation through the use of hands-on Feline Intubation “wet labs.” He sits on several boards that include Fulton County Animal Services, Fort Valley University Vet Tech program, The Miracle League of South Fulton, and the Red Oak Mainstreet Historic District.
